FADOFF Project

Basic FADOFF Project

If you have been watching my effort for some time already, you could note that I am not able to finish all my plans. If I have to continue with all this stuff, I have to distribute the work to more people, which means I have to get from somewhere money for their work.

The paper downloadable at the bottom of this page originated as a response to the call of FP7 published by the European Commission. Here is a part from the call, which I found quite nice for our purposes:

AAT.2010.4.1.1. Design Systems and Tools

Advanced modelling and simulation tools to include ‘virtual reality’ in support of design and ‘virtual prototyping’; development of advanced methods and computational tools in the fields of structural analysis, computational fluid dynamics, aeroelasticity, flutter and dynamic loads, flight dynamics, aerothermodynamics, icing thermodynamics and multidisciplinary optimisation to exploit state-of-the-art computer technologies; knowledge-based design tools and methods to include integrated life-cycle (design, manufacturing, maintenance, re-use or disposal) product definition; concepts and methodologies for efficient multi-site product development in support of the extended enterprise; methods and tools to support reconfigurable customisation of aircraft cabin architectures and interior designs; methods and tools enabling the modular aircraft concept; advanced testing tools and methods to improve cost-efficiency and reduce testing time of laboratory, on-ground and in-flight tests; advanced concepts and procedures in support of novel approaches to certification of aeronautical products and operations.

Funding scheme: Collaborative Projects small or medium-scale focused research, Coordination and Support Actions aiming at coordinating research activities

Open in call: FP7-AAT-2010-RTD-1 (AAT.2010.4.1-1)

We have already tried once to succeed with another application (named PragTicA) for a similar call in 2008. Although we managed to get to the second round, we did not get further. Having some response from EC nevertheless, we assume that this time we can prepare the project much better.

At last, also our second attempt FADOFF failed, this time due to much worse problem - we failed to get all documents to the EPSS system in time and thus have not applied at all. Well, it was a good tests of our consortium, which went bad. Nevertheless, because I think some parts of the original application are worth reading I prepared an excerpt from the Introduction part of the application. It follows the line partially mentioned in the Concepts of PragTic and of FatLim and evolves them further. It is quite possible that we will be unsuccessful in this case, but I suppose the at least the Secs. 1.1, 1.2.1 and 1.2.8 could be interesting for anybody who read up to this place and are worth of some reflection over the next directions in the technical software development. Maybe it will be you who helps me to push the project to life.

PragTicA Project Extended

Fatigue Analysis Documentation Office (FADO)

The analysis made during the preparation of the project above (see PragTicA_Intro.pdf, if you have not read it yet), its limited scope and quite a high probability of failure of the project application persuaded me to continue in its elaboration into something what makes sense with or without the EC support. It concerns establishment of the Fatigue Analysis Documentation Office, which should serve as a verification office checking various ways of computational fatigue analysis - be it commercial solutions or fresh research.

Well, I have my family and thus I am not in the situation, when I would like to risk its establishment completely without any support. This is the reason, why I would like to test a demand for it at first and find the organisations willing to help me with it. I would like to ask those interested to fill in the enquiry accessible after pressing the following button.
